Paula Takes on 70-Mile Ultra Marathon in Memory of Billy Hollingsworth

On 13 June 2026, Paula Lucas will take on one of her biggest running challenges yet — The Wall Ultra Marathon, a gruelling 70-mile route from Carlisle to Newcastle along Hadrian’s Wall.

The challenge marks a powerful personal commitment. After a few years in which her love of running had waned, Paula decided it was time to “go big or go home.” Now, at 52, she is preparing to tackle the demanding course not only to test herself, but to raise vital funds for two charities close to her heart: Reorg and The ELY Memorial Fund.

Most importantly, Paula is completing the run in memory of Billy Hollingsworth.

The Wall Ultra is no small undertaking. Covering 70 miles in a single event requires months of preparation, resilience and determination — qualities Paula is already demonstrating in abundance. By pushing herself to this extraordinary limit, she hopes to raise both awareness and funds to support families who need help during unimaginably difficult times.

The ELY Memorial Fund provides financial support and compassionate care to families affected by tragedy, while also promoting road safety education to help prevent future loss. Every pound raised through Paula’s challenge will help continue this important work.

We are incredibly grateful to Paula for choosing to support ELY in such a meaningful way and for honouring Billy’s memory through this inspiring effort.
