ELY 100 - Completed by many cyclists!
A great weekend enjoyed by 48 cyclists who started from Rotherwas and cycled 53 miles to Llangorse Lake. The weather started off with great hopes, but half way towards Peterchurch the heavens opened up! By the time they arrived at Peterchurch fire station they were all soaked through! Thanks to Debbie and the fire crew we soon warmed them up with hot drinks along with cake, jelly babies and crisps. They all arrived safely to the Lakeside Caravan Park at Llangorse Lake where a wonderful BBQ awaited them! Thank goodness we had enough food – they were all starving! All fed and tents array, they prepared themselves for the next morning. After a hearty breakfast, they all set off in the rain at 10.30! Yes it rained the majority of the way home. The Mayor of Hereford, Jim Kenyon joined the cyclists and completed the journey home in good time. The ELY Committee welcomed them all home to a warm curry & rice at the Hereford City Sports club where they received medals and individual trophies for outstanding achievements. A great weekend by all and we have already received support with new comers for next year. Thank you to Co-op Funeral Care for the kind donation of £75 towards the BBQ. Other donations came from Fluidmaster, Sainsburys, Radnor Hills Water, Lafarge Tarmac and RMS. The final total raised will be announced shortly.
