ELY Shares Road Safety Message with Young Farmers During Road Safety Week

As part of 2025’s Road Safety Week, representatives from The ELY Memorial Fund were invited to Llanarth to speak to a group of young farmers — offering an evening of honest conversation, education and reflection on how young people can stay safer on the road.

ELY Founder and Manager Ange Tyler and Director and Trustee Diana Wood visited Llanarth Village Hall to share the charity’s story, raise awareness of the risks faced by young drivers and equip attendees with practical guidance on safe decision-making behind the wheel. The group gave ELY a warm welcome and engaged fully in discussions about responsibility, consequences and the importance of looking after one another on rural roads.

Following the session, organisers from the Young Farmers club shared heartfelt feedback, expressing their gratitude for the experience.

A huge thank you both for this evening. Truly appreciated — you are both so kind teaching our youth this message. Every time you speak about this topic it must be so hard for you both, but you dig deep, find strength and continue to make a real difference to so many others.

Your children tragically lost their lives so young, but they must be incredibly proud of you both.

You’re making a real difference…you’re both an inspiration.
— Young Farmer's Club Representative

Throughout Road Safety Week, ELY has been highlighting the need for greater awareness among young and newly qualified drivers — a group statistically at higher risk of serious and fatal collisions. Sessions like this one play a crucial role in helping young people reflect on their behaviour and understand the lifelong impact that a single moment on the road can have.

The ELY Memorial Fund will continue delivering road safety talks, workshops and our annual Young Driver Experience, all aimed at reducing preventable tragedies and supporting families who have lost a child aged 17–25 in a road traffic collision.
